Spiritual Energy

It continues to bewilder me how a power greater than myself keeps me clean and sober. The electricity analogy helps when I remember that I don’t know how electricity works, but I’m grateful it does when my heater keeps me warm on a cold day. My mind wants to understand this power greater than me while my heart wants me to relax and just be grateful that I’m no longer a slave to marijuana.

Before recovery, I didn’t really know myself. I was moving through life in a cloud of smoke, every day like the last. Since working these Twelve Steps, I have come to know my values, my preferences, and my way of walking through the world. Recovery has given me the gift of faith, which I didn’t know I needed or wanted, but which helps me trust in a power greater than myself, even if I don’t understand it.

Final thought: Today I trust my Higher Power cares for me and will help me stay clean if I do what is suggested.
