The District Service Committee meets on the first Thursday of every month. Please join us on Zoom. All members of MA are welcome.

New DSC Leadership — Lots of Fresh Energy
District 6 welcomed several new officers this term — DSC Chair, Literature Chair, Chip Chair, Internet Chair, and H&I/PI Co-Chairs are all newly filled, plus multiple new GSRs. We encourage members to consider attending or representing their group as a GSR. All are welcome.

Events Chair and Secretary Positions Are Still Open

Events Chair — Hosting district events creates a unique opportunity to build a greater sense of belonging among MA members, as well as an additional source of fundraising for the district. Recovery-based events enhance MA’s primary purpose of carrying the message to the marijuana addict who still suffers, and social gatherings are a space to experience the gifts of recovery outside of meetings. Events can be hosted online or in person.
Secretary — The Secretary handles all non-financial paperwork for the district: recording minutes at each Service Committee meeting and distributing them to participants, keeping a chronological, topic-organized log of motions passed, and maintaining a contact list of District Officers, Subcommittee Chairs, GSRs, and the Secretaries/Chairs of meetings within the district.

Representation — We Need Your GSR
Right now only about a quarter of District 6 meetings are represented with a vote at the DSC. Every MA meeting in District 6 is automatically a member of this committee. Please spread the word to each meeting to send your GSR — or at minimum someone to give a report — each month if possible.

New Workgroup Forming on District Participation
A new ad hoc workgroup is forming to look at GSR attendance and overall district and meeting health, and to recommend ways to strengthen participation. All are welcome to join — contact the DSC Chair or speak to the person giving the announcement if you’re interested.

H&I/PI Outreach Restarting
The H&I/PI committee is resuming panel work, aiming for one panel per month to start, with plans to distribute literature to sober-living homes and institutions. Volunteers interested in carrying the message this way are welcome.

Campout Registration Is Open

The annual MA campout is coming up soon on September 25-28! Register now to join us at Sycamore Canyon Campground for 3 days of camping, meetings, hanging at the beach, potluck, and more!
